NTS Services Corp was established in 1989 as an Electronic Filing Company in response to the Internal Revenue Service's initiative for electronically filing of 1040 personal tax returns. Daniel L.R. Johnson, a local Pekinite is the founder, President and CEO of NTS Services Corp.

NTS established its first office location in downtown Pekin. Starting with eight local customers, NTS now provides electronic filing services nationwide and in all 50 states. NTS also provides Tax Refund Related Bank Products and software to the Banking Industry.

NTS and their affiliate banks located in Illinois and Kentucky provide Tax Refund deposit services for hundreds of millions of dollars every year. The company expanded its operation in 1995 and relocated to 2209 Broadway Pekin, IL. NTS diversified in 1996 and opened up its Internet Division providing local Internet Access to the Pekin area.  This Division has grown to include Internet access to 96% of the United States and portions of Canada. Today, NTS provides Local Internet Access to over 8,000 cities supporting thousands of dial-up access numbers. With the additional growth NTS expanded its operations to include an office located at Pekin Sunset Plaza on Court Street.

In 2002 the company consolidated their offices to their new facility located at 205 Enterprise Drive, Riverway Business Park in Pekin, IL.  At that time NTS began planning for an onslaught of new products and services available today to the local and national markets. These products include Network Consulting, Software Development, E-Commerce Solutions, Web Development, Hi-Speed Broadband and other related services. Hi-Speed Broadband Internet Access on a local basis was announced in the spring of 2004

In 2006, NTS announced to the local market, their new local and long distance phone services. NTS has deployed POTS and DTS Telephone Services to provide the “traditional” form of telephone or DTS, Digital Telephone Service. NTS has developed products and services to provide a “one stop shop” for all Telephone & Information Technology needs for Pekin, Peoria and surrounding areas.

NTS has held a long time belief in giving back to the community it serves. NTS is the primary sponsor of the Pekin Marigold Parade, Larry's Casting Kids, Manito Popcorn Festival and local ball teams. NTS has provided donations to establishments such as Pekin Community Hospital, Pekin's local grade schools as well as other community organizations. NTS also enjoys membership in many local civic organizations.
