I consistently receive an error code 691 when trying to connect. What am I doing wrong?

Dial-up Networking (DUN) error code 691 refers to an incorrect username and/or password. Double-check that your CAPS Lock isn't on and re-type your password. If you're travelling and you've changed your access number, you'll need to change your username and add the suffix of @ntslink.net/.com/.biz to your username, depending upon the access number you're using. If after a few attempts, you're still unable to connect, give our technical support staff a call at (309)353-2913.

I'm not getting my email. Is something wrong on your servers?

Typically, Outlook Express and Netscape Messenger will yield an error message in the event that it is not configured correctly and/or a technical difficulty arises on the mail server. A mail server failure is rare, so checking your NTS mail server configuration is usually the first step in resolving this issue, particularly if you're a new customer and this is your first time through Outlook Express/Netscape Messenger setup. Check to make sure you have the mail servers configured as follows:

POP3 Incoming Server: mail.ntslink.net
SMTP Outbound Server: mail.ntslink.net

This can also occur if our systems indicate that you are over your account limit. In this case, it is necessary to call the technical support staff at (309)353-2913.

I get kicked offline after I'm done checking my email. What do I need to change?

This is a configuration issue that can be easily resolved by going into the Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger setup. Broadband users will usually not encounter this issue, as it usually only pertains to dial-up users only.
